Orange blossom from the 2008 harvest in Khemisset: new fragrance depth
Khemisset is located between Rabat and Fes. The fertile soil and temperate, semi-continental climate (between 13 and 39°C) make it the ideal region for orange cultivation.
Gathering orange blossom has developed there over the centuries as a local tradition and artisanal skill in perfume production.
In 2008, bad weather and several very cold nights (up to -4°C) reduced the amount of blossoms produced. However, the flowers that did manage to bloom under these severe weather conditions possessed an exceptionally rich fragrance.
In fact, their metabolism was totally stopped during the cold periods and growth began again with even greater intensity when the sun returned. The farmers also had to give more careful attention to the trees and the picking process was performed in a more meticulous fashion.
The 2008 orange blossom absolute from Khemisset is a great vintage. It reveals a highly complex fragrance personality with an opulent, earthy floral note that is slightly more jasmine-like and less green.
